Renovations on the Rise

Renovations on the Rise

Australia's love affair with renovating is expected to continue with property equity levels beginning to improve. In Victoria, current levels of housing starts remain higher than anywhere else and renovation investments are at record levels.

The latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reveal that in 2012 building approvals for home renovations totalled $6.35 billion or around $500 million every month.

This trend of growing renovations is likely to continue not only because Australians love to renovate, but also as households increasingly prefer to direct excessive property transaction costs towards improving their existing homes, rather than trading up.

Orders at Paarhammer reflect that trend with a large number of windows and doors made for renovations and extensions. Increasing energy efficiency and sound protection are the main drivers for exchanging windows, while large sliding and bi-fold doors to alfresco areas are sought after for both renovations and extensions.

Examples

The owners of the pictured weatherboard home like to entertain, so when they made renovation plans they included opening up the kitchen/living area and bi-fold doors leading out to a new deck. Paarhammer bi-fold doors have a tilt function for the every-day door. See more on bi-fold doors

Sound protection in an inner city terrace led owners to exchange their double hung windows with technologically advanced Paarhammer tilt and turn windows which imitate the look of the original double hung products. See more on sound protection or heritage windows.

Large modern extensions of mostly glass and sliding doors can enhance beautiful traditional homes and allow the owners to connect with landscaped outdoor or pool areas. Lift-slide doors seal extremely well and even weights up to 400kg are easily moved by hand or motorised. See more on lift-slide sliding doors
